User question: What file formats are supported for annotations in FloQast?
You can now upload and annotate a wider range of file types directly on the Annotations page without needing to convert them first. Supported formats now include:
- Excel files
- Image files (.jpg, .jpeg, .jfif, .pjpeg, .pjp, and .png)
- PDFs
With the annotations feature, you can add boxes, reference attributes, link pages, and sync the test sheet results with the annotations, and it can all be performed directly within the FloQast application.
Note: Underlying Excel data isn't editable in FloQast, but users can open the file in cloud storage, make changes with native tools, and see those edits reflected in FloQast.

Annotations
You can annotate uploaded files directly within the Annotations tool.
- Annotate across sheets: Add boxes, attributes, and text overlays
- Cloud editing: To edit cell data or formulas, open the file in cloud storage. Changes will reflect in FloQast upon refreshing.
How to Annotate Files

Navigate to the Compliance module, then go to Compliance Products > Tests.

Select the control containing the documentation you want to modify.

Click View Sheets.
Click Annotate on the fill you want to edit.
This will open up the attached file and will provide a set of actions to annotate your file with within the application.
Once you are finished with annotating your file, you can click on the "Save and Sync" button to save your progress. Also, if you wish, you can click on the "Export" button to export the file to your local computer.
AI Generated Annotations
Users can also automatically generate annotations through our AI Testing
Feature!
By Clicking on the "AI Testing" icon next to a sample, the
system
will begin to generate these automatic annotations
Please Note: AI generated annotations may be inaccurate. Please review the annotations to ensure accuracy.
Once annotations are generated through AI, be sure to click back into the file by clicking on the "Annotate" button and ensure that all of the generated annotations are accurate.
Excel Annotations
You can now add annotations to Excel files. Following the same How to Annotate Excel Files steps from above select your Excel file and select Annotate. From there you can, Add boxes, attributes, and text overlays across multiple Excel sheets.
