JEM features an integration with Checklists so that you can easily link journal entries with their related checklist task to streamline documentation and tracking. This article will walk through how to link journal entries with checklist items.
To link a journal entry and checklist item, navigate to the desired checklist item, click the Kebab button to the far right of the item > hover over the Journal Entry button > click the desired option. You'll see 3 options here related to journal entries:
Create Journal Entry - This option brings you to the Journal Entry form within JEM for you to easily start creating a JE that relates to this specific checklist item.
Link Journal Entry - This option allows you to select/search an already created JE for this specific entity that you would like to link to this checklist item. After clicking this option you'll see a box where you will select the desired journal entry from the list and then click Confirm.
Clone from Previous - This option allows you to close a previous entry to expedite your journal entry process. This is great to use for JEs that are similar month to month (e.g., amortization/depreciation entries). Once clicked, a window will appear and will let you know if an entry linked to this checklist item from a previous period has been found. You can review the entry and decide which items you'd like to copy over. Make your selections and then click Confirm.
Note: The Checklist item must be under a Close entity that has been configured for JEM. The Journal Entry button within the kebab menu will not be visible if the entity has not been configured for JEM
