With Reconciliation Certifications, Preparers and Reviewers must confirm that specific steps were followed to complete a signoff for a Reconciliation item. When users try to sign off on a reconciliation, a pop-up will appear with statements they must certify. The statements that appear are fully customizable. This allows your team to leave stronger evidence that a reconciliation was prepared and reviewed thoroughly.
These statements are also shown in the Reconciliations Export file under the “Preparer/Reviewer Certification Statements” columns.
This feature is OPTIONAL, and the statements are set per entity. This means that you can enable Certification Statements for some entities while keeping them disabled for others. Furthermore, the certification language can differ for each entity, but all reconciliations within a single entity will have the same statements.
To enable this setting for an entity, add a certification statement by navigating to the Reconcilations section of Admin Settings (gear icon) and clicking on the “Manage Certification Statements” button:
A slideout will appear where you can add one or more certification statements (A). There are separate sections for “Preparer” and “Reviewer” (B), which allows you to set different statements for each assignee type. Once you have finished inputting the statements, click “Save Certifications” (C) to apply the updates.
After clicking “Save Certifications,” you will be asked whether you want to apply these changes to the current and future periods, or if you would like to include any previous periods. Similar to other reconciliation-level settings, remember that certifications are applied to the periods you select. Once they are applied to your reconciliations for the current period, the system will automatically apply them to future periods as they are created.
