The AI Matching Rule Library can be used to quickly apply existing rules across accounts, preventing the need to create new rules when new AI Matching accounts are set up (provided that the existing rules match the data format of the new AI Matching account).
Getting Started
The AI Matching Rule Library can be accessed from any AI Matching account by clicking on the kebab menu (⋮) and selecting the Matching Rule Library option:
From here, you can see all of the rules that have been imported into the Matching Rule Library:
Rules are automatically imported when new rules are created or rules that existed before the library was enabled are rolled forward. You can also import existing rules using the kebab menu (⋮) and selecting the Import Rules option.
Overview
The Matching Rule Library page will display all of the rules that have been imported to the library, including details such as which Match Type the rule can be applied to and which account it was originally created in (Source Account). Each rule can be reviewed further by clicking on each kebab (⋮) and selecting one of the following options:
- View - Displays the verbiage of the rule
- Manage Accounts - Allows you to update which accounts the rule is applied to
- Version History - An audit log that tracks changes made to the rule verbiage
Applying Rules to Accounts From The Library
There are two ways you can apply rules from the library to AI Matching accounts.
In Bulk from the Matching Rule Library page:
- Select the Manage Accounts option
- Click on the Add Accounts option at the bottom right
- Select the entity and period you want to apply the rule to
- Choose the accounts to apply the rule to
- Click on the Save button
From the AI Matching account you want to add the rule to:
- Open the Rules tray
- Select the Rule Library tab
- Click ‘Add Rule’ (you can select the > option to see the rule verbiage, or click on the rule name to be redirected to the Matching Rule Library page to manage the accounts in bulk)
- The rule will now be added to the Active Rules tab and can be applied by clicking on the Apply button
Removing Rules
You can unlink rules from specific AI Matching recs by clicking on the unlock icon. This will not delete the rule from the Library if it’s been shared with other accounts:
Note: Rules can be completely deleted from the Rule Library from the original AI Matching account they were created in (the Source). As long as the rule has been unshared from other accounts, and all periods that the rule was used in, the icon will be displayed as a trashcan instead of an unlink, and the rule can be fully deleted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I want to edit a rule, but I can’t. Why not?
A: Once a rule is shared, it is locked and cannot be edited. This maintains consistency. To edit a shared rule, you must first unlink it from all accounts it's assigned to (Rule Library > Manage Accounts page). Once it is no longer shared, it can be modified within the source account.
Q: I shared a rule to a new AI Matching account, but it's not matching anything in the new account. Why?
A: The feature assumes the data structure is the same across reconciliations. If the new account has a different data structure (e.g., a different number of references, different data formatting), the shared rule will not work.
Q: Can a user manage rules for an account they don't have access to?
A: No. Users can only see and manage rules for the accounts and entities for which they have FloQast permissions.
