Downloading the Historical Import Template
By clicking the Upload button on the top right of the amortization module, users will be able to access the Historical Data section and download a convenient Excel template to use for uploading their historical amortization data.
In order to produce a customized template for your needs, you must first type in the Historical Start Date which refers to the month and year of the earliest start date in your historical data.
Important Note: If your earliest start date is in a prior year but your amortization file only details how much has been amortized in each month of the current year, enter your Historical Start Date as December of the prior year. This will enable you to use the December column in the template to summarize all prior amortization.
For example: The earliest Start Date in my schedule is January 2019 but it does not list how much was amortized every single month of 2019. I only have those details for 2020 along with a column that summarizes the total amortized prior to 2020. Because of this, I will enter my Historical Start Date as December 2019 and will use that column in the template to include total amortization prior to 2020.
Filling in Historical Import Template
The Excel template you download will include all of the same columns you will see in the amortization module. Many can be left blank if you do not have the information but Start Date, End Date, and Amount are all mandatory.
Note: The Amount column refers to the total amount to be amortized for that item from the start to end dates and not only what is left.
The general information in columns A-I can be copied and pasted regularly from your source file; however, for the amortized amounts in columns J and onward, only paste as values to ensure formulas don't cause anything to change in translation. It is okay if some cells explicitly have 0s while others are left blank.
Once your template is filled out, simply save your file and return to the FloQast amortization module in order to upload it from the Historical Data section.
